Fatima W.Hadji is a widow, six years ago her husband passed away and left her with four children. She worked very hard in small farms to take care of her children until two got married, but she still has a lot of responsibility to take care of her mental disabled son, Makame (20yrs), Abdullah a student (14yrs) and grandaughter, Sophia(7yrs)also a student. As a widow, she has to wake up early in the morning to look for a job in a neighbouring farms. Recently she started feeling some severe body pain which makes It difficult to perform her daily farming activities. Due to her difficult condition and poor income she was unable to complete the family house which is now in a very bad conditions due to its exposure to rain,sun and wind.The family eat two meals per day and sleep in that house which is unhealthy for them. Her dream is to have three bedroom house, kitchen and toilet.
C-re-aid is currently in the process of conducting in depth research into the local building materials available in Shimbwe. Once this information has been collected, we can begin the testing process. This will allow us develop the most suitable construction techniques for the project. Therefore, materials and methods will be finalised within the upcoming months.
