HELENA SILEGHEM – Born in Belgium; 1994. She recently graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering and Architecture from the University of Ghent. Here, duel interests in building practices and social engagement motivated her to pursue courses on design, history and migration.

Helena went on to write her master thesis on transnational place-making strategies of Afro-Pentecostal churches in a mid-sized city in Belgium. A part of this research is presented in the ‘Wonen in diversiteit. Inclusief woonvormen voor nieuwkomers’ exhibition, hosted in deSingel, Antwerp. This project, and her desire to gain further construction experience, inspired Helena to start her internship with C-re-aid; beginning her career in socially engaged architecture.
